Seachem Gray Coast is a natural calcite substrate designed for all types of marine, reef, and tropical aquaria. This high-quality substrate assists in stabilizing calcium and alkalinity levels, helping to prevent large pH declines. Rich in magnesium, Gray Coast enhances the color of marine fish, making it an excellent choice for creating a vibrant and healthy aquarium environment.

Key Features

  • Natural Calcite: Provides a natural source of calcium and magnesium.
  • Stabilizes Calcium and Alkalinity: Helps maintain stable water chemistry.
  • Prevents pH Declines: Reduces the risk of sudden pH drops.
  • High in Magnesium: Supports the health and coloration of marine fish.
  • Dry Substrate: Contains 35% more gravel than wet substrates of equal weight.

Why Choose Seachem Gray Coast?

  • Effective and Natural: Provides essential minerals naturally, supporting a stable and healthy aquarium environment.

Initial Setup:

  1. Rinse the Substrate:

    • Thoroughly rinse Seachem Gray Coast to remove any residual dust. This helps to minimize initial cloudiness in the aquarium.
  2. Add the Substrate:

    • Spread the rinsed Gray Coast evenly across the bottom of the aquarium to create a substrate bed.
  3. Fill the Aquarium with Water:

    • When adding water to the aquarium, pour it slowly to avoid disturbing the substrate bed. A helpful tip is to place a bowl in the aquarium and pour water into the bowl, allowing it to overflow gently onto the substrate.
  4. Clear Initial Cloudiness:

    • Initial cloudiness is normal. To accelerate clearing, use mechanical filtration (such as filter floss) and consider adding Seachem Clarity to the water.

Maintenance:

  1. Regular Monitoring:

    • Regularly check and maintain optimal water parameters, including calcium, alkalinity, and pH levels, to ensure a stable environment for your aquatic life.
  2. Water Changes:

    • Perform regular water changes to maintain water quality. This helps to remove any accumulated waste and replenish essential minerals.
  3. Substrate Cleaning:

    • Periodically clean the substrate using a gravel vacuum during water changes. This helps to remove detritus and prevent the buildup of harmful substances.
  4. Supplementation:

    • Consider using additional supplements like Seachem Stability to enhance the biological filtration and overall health of your aquarium.
