Ammonia Alert

Initial Setup:

1. Preparation:

   • Unpack Carefully: Remove the Ammonia Alert sensor from its packaging. Handle it with care to avoid touching the sensor surface directly, as skin oils can affect its accuracy.

2. Placement:

   • Positioning: Place the Ammonia Alert sensor visibly anywhere in the aquarium or filter where it can be easily seen. Ensure it is fully submerged in water.
   • Orientation: The sensor should be placed in an area with good water flow to ensure accurate readings.

3. Activation:

   • Wait for Activation: Allow the sensor to acclimate to the aquarium water. It will begin to show readings within about 15 minutes. It may take up to a few days for a dry sensor to equilibrate with the water

Maintenance:

1. Regular Monitoring:

   • Check Daily: Observe the sensor daily to monitor ammonia levels. The sensor changes color from yellow (safe) to green (alert) to blue (toxic), indicating increasing ammonia levels.
   • Interpretation:
     • Safe (Yellow): No action required.
     • Alert (Green): Monitor and consider a water change soon. Tolerated for 3-5 days.
     • Alarm (Blue): Perform a water change or treat with Seachem AmGuard for emergency ammonia removal. Tolerated for 1-3 days.

2. Cleaning:

   • Algae Removal: If algae or debris accumulate on the sensor, gently clean it with a clean, soft material. Avoid using bleach, soap, detergents, or hard objects to clean the sensor.
   • Avoid Touching: Do not touch the sensor surface with your fingers, as this can affect its accuracy.

3. Replacement:

   • Longevity: The Ammonia Alert sensor lasts over a year. Replace it after this period or if it shows signs of wear or reduced sensitivity.

4. Testing and Calibration:

   • Verify Functionality: To ensure the sensor is functioning correctly, you can briefly hold it over the mouth of an ammonia bottle (e.g., household cleaner containing ammonia). The sensor should immediately turn dark blue/purple, indicating toxic free ammonia.
   • Recalibration: After the above test, let the sensor soak in a container of fresh water (RO or distilled) to see if the color returns to yellow.

1. How often should I replace the sensor?
   The sensor should be replaced after one year or if it shows signs of fading or wear.

   Yes, the Ammonia Alert can be used in both freshwater and marine aquariums.

3. Do I need to perform any calibration or maintenance on the sensor?
   No calibration is required. Simply ensure the sensor is clean and free from algae buildup.

You may return most new, unopened items within 7 days of delivery for a full refund. We'll also pay the return shipping costs if the return is a result of our error (you received an incorrect or defective item, etc.).

You should expect to receive your refund within four weeks of giving your package to the return shipper, however, in many cases you will receive a refund more quickly. This time period includes the transit time for us to receive your return from the shipper (5 to 10 business days), the time it takes us to process your return once we receive it (3 to 5 business days), and the time it takes your bank to process our refund request (5 to 10 business days).

If you need to return an item, simply login to your account, view the order using the "Complete Orders" link under the My Account menu and click the Return Item(s) button. We'll notify you via e-mail of your refund once we've received and processed the returned item.

We can ship to virtually any address in the world. Note that there are restrictions on some products, and some products cannot be shipped to international destinations.
